Previous: CASCADE Agents
At the current time, we are exploring the use of color in CASCADE to provide
authors and editors with quicker access to information. These developments are
very much in a state of transition, so the reader should be wary of assuming
that what is written here is valid for the particular implementation they are
working with. (In addition, most of the color selections in CASCADE may be
adjusted by the user to assert colors more in line with their personal
preferences.)
In any case, extensive use is made of color to help the user identify documents
and comments of interest. As the system is refined, there are plans to
introduce textures and other graphical features as well. At the current time,
all directory buttons and all comment buttons follow the following coloring
rules as a default:
- Directories and Main Files
- Yellow on Brown identifies a directory
- White on Light Blue identifies a normal system file
- Comment Links
- Tan on Dark Blue identifies a link that has been created but not rated
- Black on Yellow identifies an open rated comment
- Black on Tan identifies a partially closed rated comment
- Black on Orange identifies a closed rated comment
- Other Links
- White on Green indicates that a file is no longer available
- White on Red identifies a binary system file to which
the user has only indirect access
- White on Black identifies a binary file CASCADE cannot access
- White on Pink identifies a http link file.
- Red on White identifies a Postscript of Gif file
