Plagiarism can be detected in
different ways:

Students: Be careful before
citing matter from the Internet because :
In University of Pittsburgh, there is a software which can find any text if it
is copied from the Internet. Hence it is very important to cite the source
properly and have quotation marks around the text.
Checking for strange format that does not
match the requirements. In particular, check for website printout page numbers
or dates, grayed out letters and unusual use of upper/lower case and
capitalization.
Notice any terminology or advanced vocabulary or
sentence structure.
Referring the original assignment. To see if all the
matter in the paper is coherent. To see if there have been any positions of
the assignment left out? Do any portions read like they were "added on" to the
paper?

Note Students:
Review the
bibliography. Is the correct citation style used? Is the citation style used
consistently? Does it match the sources referenced in the paper?
