After
I graduated from the Department of Library and Information
Science, I began a position as an Outreach Services Librarian
in Santa Ana, California. providing effective library services
to English and Non-English speaking residents who are unable
to access the Main library or library branches. I schedule
bookmobiles and storytelling times, organize special events,
buy adult Spanish books, and use my background in Spanish
to communicate with the Spanish-speaking residents of the
community. I am also responsible for computer training,
and my classes at SIS were helpful in preparing me for
that. Some of my other duties include working with schools
and other agencies for community outreach and coordinating
the volunteer program. My internship with the Latin American
Collection at Hillman Library was also helpful in preparing
me for my current position.
